I, like many people, were thrilled by President Obama’s campaign in 2008. I, like many people, volunteered to earn him a victory. I, like many people, now feel that the rush, the rush of thrill and excitement, is gone.
It’s a weird feeling, when you dedicated almost an entire year to get one man, to one place. But it’s not the feeling of regret, it’s more a feeling of “now what?” It feels like now that he won, what do we do?
I mean, Obama twittered, he texted, he make youtube videos, he did everything that was popular on the internet, and now, no more. You don’t get the exciting feeling of getting a text from a possible next President. And it doesn’t even matter to you that it went out to a million other people too, because it was truly your own connection with Obama.
I used to think that now that the election is over, there was nothing left to do, nothing left to accomplish. But I was wrong, there was much to be done.
If your looking for something to do, look no further than Barack Obama’s website, “Organzing For America”. Here, you can once more get out on the streets, or in your neighborhood, and talk to people about the current issues and political happenings such as the stimulus package. Obama still needs your help to inform the public about what he is doing, and that it is the right thing. So if you still believe strongly in volunteering and getting the word out, you gotta check out this site!
But Obama isn’t the only person who needs your help, you local senators and congressmen need your help as well! If you think that a particular senator or congressmen really has good morals and ideas, help them out, go to their local office or look them up online, the chances are, they will be waiting for you. You can also help Obama while staying at home by contacting your congressman or congresswoman and telling them to work with Obama on his ideas and what you believe in. To get your local representatives email or website, try out this website.
Now, if your really lazy, but you still want to help, you can just be sure to talk about it with friends, or show your ideals on the internet. The “Top Conservatives On Twitter” aka “#TCOT” are becoming a large voice. Who says that we liberals and democrats shouldn’t do the same? Show your pride and tweet liberally and disprove false claims that some conservatives might make!
You can use any of these ways to help change not only our country, but the world.
